Dr. Seyyed Basir Hashemi, the chief of the cochlear implant Science committee of Iran Said:
There are currently 11 cochlear implantation centers in Iran which are working and providing services to patients.
In this interview with IRNA regarding the Fifth International Congress on cochlear implant and related Sciences in Mashhad, Dr. Seyyed Basir Hashemi added: cochlear implantation began in thirteen seventy one (1992) in Iran and afterward the cochlear implant centers started working in Tehran, Mashhad, and Shiraz respectively.
He mentioned: approximately 10 thousand cochlear implant surgeries have been performed in the country so far by the 11 cochlear implant centers which is the considered a good number.
